Garden World’s Guide to Gardening - Tips for Ornamental Peppers

October 5th, 2024

Ornamental peppers are a great addition to your garden for the fall season! Plant this annual to spice up your garden while also adding beautiful color! Ornamental peppers bud in different colors including red, orange, yellow, and purple. They can be planted in the ground or in containers and are fairly easy to care for.

Here are some tips to help you care for your peppers!

- Ornamental peppers need full sun to survive, so it’s important that you choose a location that receives sun for most of the day. Planting in a shadier area could result in fewer fruits budding.

- Use a well-draining soil when planting your peppers. They don’t like to be left in very wet soil as they can rot if the soil is kept too moist.

- To encourage faster growth and new buds, use a liquid fertilizer to feed your peppers!

- Peppers are cool weather tolerant, however they will only last outside until the first frost. Bring your peppers inside before then to keep enjoying them after it gets cold!

- The peppers are edible! (Although pretty spicy) If that’s not something you enjoy then just keep them for decoration!
